HBO Max is making a return to Amazon Prime Video Channels in the US after leaving the service in September 2021, and new subscribers can get a seven-day trial free of the service.
There hasn’t been a free trial available on HBO Max since December 2020, so this is well worth taking advantage of – especially if you’re looking to binge something specific at the same time as keeping costs down. To get the trial, click the button below and then click on ‘learn more’ to sign up.

You can watch all the shows and movies available on the streaming service, but via Amazon’s interface rather than HBO’s. However, after the trial, a subscription will still cost you $14.99 per month, the same as subscribing directly to HBO Max. The $9.99 ad-supported tier doesn’t appear to be an option if you go via Prime Video.
It’s also important to note that Amazon Channels are available only to Prime Members, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year. However, if you’re not yet subscribed to Amazon Prime, you can get a 30-day free trial. All the billing will be done through Amazon, mitigating the need for multiple streaming accounts.
In addition, Warner has confirmed to Variety that users who subscribe to HBO Max through Amazon Prime Channels will automatically be upgraded to the HBO Max/Discovery+ platform, which is scheduled to launch next spring. The cost of this is still to be confirmed – though CNBC has reported that the rumoured name of the new service is simply ‘Max’.
On HBO Max, you can stream the likes of House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, Euphoria, Succession and the upcoming adaptation of The Last of Us game. On the movies front, you get the likes of Don’t Worry Darling, the Harry Potter series and The Lord of the Rings movies.
You can also read up on how to watch Glass Onion and Top Gun: Maverick – two films that will be available to stream later this month.
